Giving Back: Our Journey of Charity Fundraising at SK Fitness

Since we started our small business, we've held annual events to raise money for charity. We are incredibly lucky to have huge support from our local community and our home at Ranfurly Castle Golf Club. We thought, “Why not give back?”


The Beginning of Our Fundraising Journey



It all started with a sponsored run.



We have clients of all ages, shapes, sizes, and various fitness levels. Suzanne decided her challenge was to run her first marathon. In doing so, she invited clients, friends, family, and the community to join her for a 5km, 10km, or half marathon to keep her company. Her good friend Megan even cycled the whole distance!


Expanding Our Efforts



From that moment, we began holding family bootcamps, aerobic sessions, and Zumba nights for various charities close to our hearts. Not only do we encourage clients to step out of their comfort zones and try different types of exercise, but we also get to have fun while helping others through fundraising!


A 24-Hour Fitness Challenge



In 2023, we held a 24-hour spin event, offering spin classes every hour. By 2024, we expanded to 24 hours of fitness, featuring various classes throughout the day and night!



Our Biggest Challenge Yet



In 2025, we signed up for our biggest challenge yet: Strictly Beatson, for Beatson Cancer Charity! This initiative set a fundraising target of £10,000 and required us to assemble a team of six to work with our allocated professionals. We got to work, convinced the team, and raised over £23,000! The six-month training was fantastic and hard work for everyone involved.


To fundraise, we held two 12-hour fitness challenges. Some clients managed to complete the entire 12 hours, which significantly boosted our fundraising efforts. Another brilliant client organized a ladies' lunch that attracted over 100 local women. We also hosted a Folk Night, thanks to the fabulous band, Folky McFolk Face.





Why You Should Consider Fundraising


For anyone unsure about trying to fundraise, we would say, “Do it!” It is hard work, but the rewards are overwhelming!
